Read "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" here! →
…a great link I found which has the entire book on the web.  Anyone looking to trade would do well to read this book first, sure it’s many decades old and it’s about stock market trading, but everything written here applies just as well to betting exchange markets in the 21st century.  Human nature never changes.. enjoy!

Ryderstedt v Rehnquist
…not exactly a match to write home about. Fairly typical of the sort of dross I get to watch in the 35 weeks a year that there isn’t anything good on. I might be able to win a few points off these chaps, and that’s saying something. Perhaps slightly more amusing is the location for this tour event.. ‘Bastad’, Sweden. *update: Rehnquist just double faulted to be...

Roger V Rafa, their rivalry over 18 matches. →
…a great article from the ATP website, every match they’ve played so far.  It currently stands at 12-6 to Rafa.  Let’s hope there’s many more to come.

…A great blog entry showing analysis of their results over the past month or two, complete with charts.  More importantly, they reach the conclusion that it’s better to monitor the big picture in order to maintain discipline on a trade by trade level.  Check it.

“I made my money by selling too soon. I never lost money by turning a profit.”
– Bernard M. Baruch - we all know it’s not quite so simple, but there are times when this quote should ring in my ears louder than some of the other ideas I have, most of the time in fact..

"The Experiment" blog is next to do some gambling... →
…Graeme follows punt.com and delves into the statistics of his trading, it’s an enlightening article, especially for those of you just starting out in sports trading.  Points worthy of note, he’s loses in only 1 of 6 markets, averages £30 an hour and has a very smooth chart - of which I’m quite envious :)  Make sure you check out the rest of his blog too.

Nadal @ Wimbledon, some concerns..
I’ve been championing Nadal’s chances at this years Wimbledon, even before he won the French and trounced Roger.  Things looked brilliant for him when he took the Queens title too, on courts that are acknowledged as faster than Wimbledon’s.  I think was was most impressive was his fast change of tactics from clay to grass, standing on the baseline to return serve, where 3 days...

10 useless tips to become a professional gambler. →
…pay no attention to this article, it’s frankly rubbish.  Of the ten tips, 2/3 make some sense, the rest show a massive lack of understanding.  My pick of the most misleading: “1. Use the power of multi bets. Often joining two heavy favourites in a multi bet gives the same odds as an outsider. It pays very well.” This is to put it mildly, utter rubbish… unless you...

The Independant follows suit with an article on... →
…an understandibly hot topic in the UK as Wimbledon starts.  The UK media loves blowing the covers off anything.  It’s nothing us traders didn’t know.  I particularly enjoyed the name of the new position being created by the ATP, “a new, all-powerful anti-corruption tsar is to be appointed.”  Anyone appointed as a ‘Tsar’, has gotta feel good about...

Sunday Times article on Tennis Match Fixing →
…very nice article on this, a lot more depth to this than others I have read, it’s not too hard to figure out who the players are that are being talked about in the article.  Some small mention of ‘tanking’, but no expansion on this most worrying of ideas - that players don’t need to throw a match, just one game, one set, or even certain points.. Betfair certainly...

Amusing / worrying search terms.
I’m happy to report “Do professional gamblers win” just lead a (hopefully) satisfied searcher to us.  I do tend to think that the answer is in the question though. More worrying, is the fact that we were also visited by someone searching for “I just lost a lot of money gambling”, whoever you are, take a break, or better still, stop!

Federer's price moves 2.18 to 2.28 after the draw.
Trying to figure out how this price has been arrived at, seeing as his potential Semi Final match just became 20% harder to win. How would you price up matches with Djokovic and Nadal? Answers on a postcard please! The market seems to expect 1.36 v Djokovic and 1.5 v Nadal, both way too short in my opinion. It’ll be interesting to see if Roger’s outright price will lengthen during...
