The market depth following Betfair’s slow suspension of the Nishikori - Ferrer match.
Another failed suspension on a big match by Betfair. Tonight’s match was 1.33 on match point for Nishikori.. as Betfair suspend, there is over £100k asking for 1.01.
The people laying 1.09 and below were all definitely matched before Betfair were able to suspend on time (the price had hit 1.1 earlier in the match, leaving it impossible to know how much people were able to match between 1.1 and 1.21). The people laying these bets all lost money without a chance of ever winning - unless the people betting were guessing, but how often do you see them get it wrong? Risk free profit is being extracted from the Betfair userbase.
Betfair fail to suspend the Ivanovic v Coin match as Coin wins the match. Some people are able to match money without due risk down to 1.01 (Coin was 1.22 prior to them playing the match point).
Betfair fail to suspend the Safin v Starace match on time.
…not exactly a match to write home about. Fairly typical of the sort of dross I get to watch in the 35 weeks a year that there isn’t anything good on. I might be able to win a few points off these chaps, and that’s saying something.
Perhaps slightly more amusing is the location for this tour event.. ‘Bastad’, Sweden.
*update: Rehnquist just double faulted to be broken whilst serving for the match, thus prolonging the anguish of all viewers.
..someone just searched for this on google and remarkably, arrived at Punt.com. Not sure how exactly, and not sure why someone would search for such a thing.. does it exist? Either way, welcome visitor!
My Betfair forum woes. Even they don’t know why I’m getting this message.
I made my money by selling too soon.
I never lost money by turning a profit.
— Bernard M. Baruch - we all know it’s not quite so simple, but there are times when this quote should ring in my ears louder than some of the other ideas I have, most of the time in fact..
